When Winston Churchill came here, he was looking for 'a warm, picturesque and colorful seaside resort'. Camara de Lobos did not disappoint him and the residents are still very proud to this day that this celebrity visited their village. The place where he sat down to paint is even named after him: Miradouro Winston Churchill.
