The hike initially seems rather inconspicuous, but is sometimes quite exciting due to the lack of handrails or ropes. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are, just like the respect for the path, an absolute must for this hike. The end of the Levada is closed off as there have been too many accidents. We respected the grid and changed across the valley to the other Levada. An altogether very worthwhile hike, which can be mastered as a tourist from Funchal without a long journey.
