Just off the John Martin Heritage Trail there is a beach area and pool facing a rock face, much like the pool at Swallowship on Devils water, very similar geology although I'm pretty certain the actual rock itself is different. Currently the water level is fairly low but historically this has been a popular dipping spot but I'd suggest a wet suit as the water never really gets above 6 degrees! Ouch!

It is very slippery here in the autumn so remember to wear some good sturdy walking boots. I wore wellies which weren't that great. The trail is also currently closed …

My father’s friend was evacuated here as a child during WWII. When he grew up he always camped here and revisited the old family. We used to tag along and my fondest memories are at Plankey Mill and the nearby Carts Bog Inn pub.
