The Cramignon is a traditional reed dance in which the dancers hold each other's hands. The dancing people skip and zigzag through the streets while the brass band plays cheerful Cramignon music. The reed dance is still a lively tradition in eight villages in the border region between South Limburg and Belgium. The inhabitants look forward to it every year and are proud of it. That and more about the dance, the practitioners and the history on the information board (see photos).
Fun fact: the ferry between Eijsden and Ternaaien was also named Cramignon. So it's really popular.

Sculptural group of six dancing figures. The Cramignon is a street, pendulum, cord or circle dance that was danced in Greece a few thousand years ago under the name 'choreia' and had to cross many borders before it caught on in Eijsden. Here the cramignon is also called "rèj".
