The castle-like building on a high mountain spur houses the "Pestalozzi-Gymnasium".
It was inaugurated in 1907 as a "boys' school" and was considered the most beautiful school in Thuringia at the time. While this school used to be attended almost exclusively by residents of Stadtroda, today the catchment area of the grammar school has expanded considerably. Girls and boys from Stadtroda and the surrounding communities from the area of the former district of Stadtroda, a total of around 360 children and young people, use the modern facilities of the grammar school and prepare for their matriculation examination.
