When the Nature Theater opened on July 9, 1911, today's "Goethe Fountain" in the park at the bathing area behind the Kunstwandelhalle was consecrated as the "Hermann and Dorothea Fountain". The background is the tradition that Goethe was inspired by the Elsteran landscape during his stay in Adorf in 1795 and later completed his work based on the Elsteran spring.
During the celebrations for the 100th birthday of the Bad Elster Nature Theater, a new bronze memorial plaque was attached to the Goethe Fountain, which now adorns this historic fountain again.

The Goethe Fountain is not far from the Great Fountain. On July 9, 1911, today's "Goethe fountain" was consecrated as "Hermann and Dorothea fountain. The Goethe fountain is somewhat "hidden" in the spa gardens of Bad Elster. Seating is available right next to it. There is a sign for the fountain, well done.
