The Speicherstadt Hamburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015 and is an impressive quarter of the former Hamburg free port. The construction was an expression of the boom in the port at the beginning of the 20th century and there was a hustle and bustle there until the invention of the container. Today everything has shifted to the other side of the Elbe. The container determines the port.

The Speicherstadt is now the center of events and new attractions. Luckily, this part of Hamburg's history has survived and not been demolished. She's just too beautiful for that.
