The powder tower was temporarily used as a municipal prison. So probably at the time of the council the robber baron Jörg von End was imprisoned in it. Following the council, several Jews were also imprisoned here with the permission of their patron, King Sigismund, in order to pay the king's council debts with the ransom sums.

The Powder Tower on the Rhine in Constance used to be called the Brick Tower or the Judenturm. It was built by Jewish citizens as a cornerstone of the city fortifications and as a bastion in 1321.
The tower now serves as the guild house of the Niederburg fools' guild.
