Holding basin 'the village meadow' has been constructed to prevent flooding in earthquakes and the city center during severe weather. It is about 8 hectares in size and has a capacity of 75,000 m³ of water. With the adapted planting, it is a valuable biotope with a walking path, a rest area and an observation spot for bird watchers.

The holding basin 'De Dorpsweide' has been designed to reduce flooding in earthquakes and in the city center of Sint-Truiden during severe weather. The holding basin is about 8ha in size and can hold 75,000m³ of water. Nature development received a great deal of attention with the construction of pools, swamp zones and source ponds. A walking path has been set up around the holding basin with a rest area and a lookout for bird watchers.

Parking lot before starting the route. You can also walk to the Kerkom brewery. Follow the orange arrow after crossing the paved road. At the chapel to the left you come out.
