The Neckar became more and more integrated into the cityscape of Heilbronn. Today you can stroll along the river, sit in the grass on the riverbank and relax in the shade of the weeping willows. You will find cafés, restaurants and many benches. For example, in the coffee bay directly on the water you can make yourself comfortable in a deckchair. From the Neckar promenade it is not far to the city center.

Neckar and Neckarufer belong to the "green Heilbronn". The Freizeitpark Wertwiesen is located right on the river and the Neckarpark is being built in the middle of the city center. In 2019, one of the gates to the Federal Garden Show will also be here. A proverbial "green island" is the Horkheimer island between the old Neckar and the Neckar canal. Neckar promenades invite you to stroll in the city center, the paths along the river and the canal are equally popular with walkers, cyclists and inline skaters.
