In the rooms where meat was once produced, the Bruchsaler Tafel now offers cheap food. In addition to a pub and a smoking bar, software developers, a catering service, a cleaning service and a goldsmith have found a new home in the old slaughterhouse. "Of course I know the bloody history of this building," says master goldsmith Jürgen Schoner. "But for me it is not difficult to bear. The building has flair and an effect that is incomparable."

The slaughterhouse in Bruchsal, built in 1907/08, is a remarkable Art Nouveau building. It replaced the slaughterhouse built in the city center in 1772, which no longer met the new hygiene regulations.
The slaughterhouse itself generated electricity for machines and cooling - probably using water power from the Saalbach stream that flows past the building.
The slaughterhouse was stopped in 1992.
The tower at the slaughterhouse is a cross between a chimney and a water tower.
The building currently houses several companies and the Bruchsal food bank.
