Day 5: Fort Whilliam - Bridge of Orchy
Rain was coming, and so was fatigue.
We started slowly: coffee, pastries, and a small goal — ride to Glenfinnan and see the famous viaduct.

Day 4 : Dalwhinnie - Fort William
After 9.5 hours of sleep, everything felt better.
Breakfast at the only café in the village cost £40 for two coffees and avocado toasts — painful, but necessary. We stocked up for the next 100 km and headed out.

Day 3 : Bothy - Dalwhinnie
We woke up to horses grazing right outside the window.
After a short night and a quick breakfast, we headed towards the Cairngorms Loop. River crossings were now routine, and my €35 Crocs turned out to be one of the best investments of the trip.

Day 2 - Killin - Bothy
This was where the Highlands really began. The scenery shifted into something almost like Mongolian степpe — wide, open, and wild.
We barely saw anyone that day.
Then the route disappeared. A collapsed bridge, no visible trail..
We decided to go “by feeling.” The bog disagreed.

Day 1 — Stirling to Killin
The train to Stirling was quick and bike-friendly. We used the time to reorganize bags, grab a second breakfast, and double-check the route.

Day 0 — Edinburgh
Edinburgh is absolutely worth coming back to. We spent the first day riding without luggage, checking our bikes at a local shop, and exploring the city.

This year I had to choose whether it should be 100, 200 or even 300km for the "8Bar Gravelo". I actually planned to choose the "middle distance". But I somehow let the good weather pass and then, as the weather got increasingly bad, I didn't want to put myself through more than 100km

For this year's Gravelo, Miriam made me want to try her home gravel region around the Feldberg. The view from the top was limited to a few meters but that didn't make the round any less fun. Climbing sections and fast trails made it really gravelly :)
