The Rotwandhaus is a very popular mountain hut, also among mountain bikers. This is certainly due not only to its great location but also to the homemade delicacies such as typical Bavarian dishes, homemade bread and cakes, soups, and "Spatz" (spicy German 'sparrows'). A special highlight is definitely an overnight stay at the Rotwandhaus – experiencing a sunset and sunrise in the mountains is something special. Be sure to reserve a room in advance, though, so you're not unexpectedly turned away.

You can no longer call this a hut. The Rotwandhaus was completely renovated a few years ago, which has definitely improved the experience. From the huge terrace, the view sweeps from the Zugspitze to the Großglockner. The slightly higher prices reflect the fact that the renovations probably cost a lot. Nevertheless, the food and service are of high quality, which justifies the price. Peak times should be avoided if possible, as there are often crowds of hungry tourists waiting to be fed.
