Along the hiking trail near Kelmis, you'll find the site of the former railway border crossing, a historic point where railway line 39B once crossed the border between Belgium and Germany. This railway played a significant role in the industrial history of Kelmis and Neutral-Moresnet, particularly in transporting zinc and lead from local mines to other industrial centers.

The border crossing illustrates the complex history of the area, which over the centuries fell under various states: Prussia, the Netherlands, Neutral-Moresnet, and ultimately Belgium. The former station and level crossing made the railway a vital component of logistics and border control.
