The large Bärenstein stands in the shadow of the small Bärenstein. Hiking trails to the Großer Bärenstein are not signposted, although the climb via the Riegelhofstiege is a very beautiful and interesting climb. Access to the climb is already difficult to find. The climb from the direction of Klein Bärenstein, on the other hand, is very easy.

Due to its thicker forest cover, the Bärenstein is less well-known to tourists than many other table mountains with panoramic views, but it is precisely because of this forest cover that the Bärenstein has a wild, romantic atmosphere.
