NCM made another effort for our friends in the Lake Macquarie area by hosting a Christmas Lights Night ride on Saturday, December 28, 2024. This event took us along part of the Lake Macquarie shoreline and allowed us to visit houses in Eleebana.

NCM hosted a Christmas Lights Night ride on Saturday 21st December 2024 around the cycleways and safe streets of Newcastle!
It was a fantastic night - bikes lit up, families in cargo bikes, a penny farthing, music playing, spectacular houses and people cheering as we passed them in the streets!
Let's do it again next year!!

Riding the regional cycling route R5 from Speers Point Park towards the city, as far as Hamilton East. The remainder of the R5 goes along Parry St and then King St as a shared lane on a busy road - we can't recommend that part of the route as it is only for confident, experienced and fast riders. Hopefully

The full loop is 10 kilometres with less than 10 metres of elevation change. The family friendly option is to ride the green sections to Islington Park (or less) and return the same way for a total

Grab a coffee on Darby St, get sand between your toes at Bar or Merewether Beach, and have a game of lawn bowls on your return.
The green loop is 7 kilometres with a total of 40 metres of climbing. Some of that climbing is to get you off Darby Street before the traffic gets busier, but after that is much flatter.

See the Foreshore, Nobbys Beach, take a swim at the Ocean Baths and return via the city.
There can be lots of pedestrian traffic on the foreshore, the path to the Baths and to Newcastle Beach so please be considerate and ride at an appropriate speed. After the city section the green loop does travel
