The first tour in the Val d'Orcia in southern Tuscany. From San Quirico d'Orcia it goes downhill at first; the typical cypresses quickly appear on the side of the road.
The climb to Pienza soon begins, including a section where you have to push your bike (ascent + scree).

From Menaggio, you first take the ferry to Varenna and from there around the northern Lake Como back to Menaggio.

Test run to see if the flat tire holds after I used sealant spray.
It passed this tour without a hitch; in total it will last about 120 km - not bad at all, but also proof that sealant spray is not a long-term repair agent.

We set off in sunshine, but it was a bit damp along the way, although apart from a short shower it was more of a drizzle.
The GPS kept breaking down along the way, which meant that some of the sections were very straight.
I had to push the bike the last 1.5 kilometers to the hotel because I had a flat tire.

From Monticchiello we headed towards Montepulciano. Below the day's destination, we first follow a beautiful cypress avenue to the Tempio di San Biagio below Montepulciano. I'll visit this beautiful church at a later date - it's worth it.
