Franconia - Connecticut

Nachdem wir nach Connecticut gezogen sind, koennen wir nun in den USA unsere Touren fortsetzen. Was fuer eine grossartige Moeglichkeit! Unser Ziel von New York nach Boston haben wir erreicht, jetzt geht es in Richtung Norden nach Vermont, wo wir den North Country Trail erreichen wollen, um im Sommer dann für 5 Wochen auf ihn gen Westen zu wandern.

Es ist vollbracht. Unser kleines „Nebenprojekt“ „Einmal durch ganz Deutschland“ von Helgoland bis Österreich ist erfolgreich beendet.

1293km, 47 Touren, 6300 Höhenmeter und 121h in Bewegung.

Als Berliner mit der Mauer aufgewachsen und beschränkt auf die 480 km² ist klar:

Ich muss einfach jedes Wochenende draußen sein - wenn irgend möglich. Angefangen hat alles im LockDown des Jahres 2020. Wir mussten raus, haben uns unser Bike geschnappt und sind von Nürnberg nach Cuxhaven geradelt. Natürlich war ich auch früher schon viel unterwegs (Berlin-Rom, Nürnberg-Brest, Brasilien und Goa), da die Kinder aber noch klein waren hat sich die Outdoorzeit deutlich verringert, bis wir 2020 beschlossen wieder einzusteigen.

Nach der Radtour wurde es deutlich: Wir brauchen mehr! Nachdem wir von 08/21 bis 07/22 ein Jahr lang im Sabbatical durch Italien, Kanada und die USA gewandert sind, sind wir zuerst wieder zurück nach Deutschland mittlerweile leben wir aber in den USA in Connecticut.

Nice little hike along rhe Duxbury Beach Park to the Plymouth Light and back. A little bit cold and windy. Our Malamute had fun.

A very beautiful path right along the beach. It's a bit run-down at the beginning, as the official beach is currently being renovated, hence the road is torn up.



At the end, you'll find a magnificent dune landscape. Thanks to the long period of continuous frost, it was possible to walk directly through

The plan was to hike the Farmingdale Rails to Trails route. This worked perfectly in Southington, as the entire cycle path there had been cleared. However, outside the city limits, there was still 50cm of snow on the path, so the long-distance hike turned into a loop in -12°C.
