There has been a post mill here since the 14th century, which was demolished in 1850 and replaced in 1856 by the construction of a Dutch mill on the other side of the street. A lightning strike in 1877 destroyed the upper part of the former grain mill. During the reconstruction, the substructure was increased by one floor. Already in 1939 a pair of wings was removed.

In 1949 the mill was shut down, the second pair of wings and the gallery were dismantled. In 1992/93, as part of the conversion to a youth research center, the windmill got both new wings and a new gallery, so that today it presents itself again as a complete Dutch gallery. The mill technology is partly available, but it does not have a grinder. The wind rose is fully functional. Today the windmill serves as a branch of the Vincent-Lübeck-Gymnasium for the "Young Researchers" department.

Only the outside visit is possible.
