                          This is the description of the object when it was placed under protection by the monument authority in 1985.
                          The inscription on the base identifies J. Hellweg from Paderborn as the sculptor.
                          Another inscription names the donors of the statue, Freiherr Carl von Droste Hülshoff and Freifrau Pierrine von Droste Hülshoff, and the date of erection: August 18, 1882.
                          The reason for the construction was the path reinforcement of the Eggeringhauser Chaussee, which led from Borchen via today's Kreuzricke and the Hamborner Grenzweg and then over the Stern through the valley to Eggeringhausen.
                          At the Stern the road, which was repaved in 1882 for 3367 marks, met the pilgrimage route from Paderborn to the Chapel of the Hilly Soul.
                          The Madonna is said to have been placed facing the castle.
                          It was brought to Paderborn in front of the Brothers Hospital in 1930 and was only rebuilt in 1950 at the old location on the initiative of some citizens of Kirchborchen and Dörenhagen.
                          Since then, however, her gaze has been directed towards the Chapel of the Hilly Soul.
