The Nemitzer Heide is the largest heathland (approx. 550 hectares) in Wendland (Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony). There are many beautiful hiking trails here that are not yet as crowded with tourists as many areas in the Lüneburg Heath. I am often out and about in the Nemitzer Heide, looking for beautiful photo opportunities. The sunrise and sunset times are particularly suitable for this. On clear nights I like to take pictures of the starry sky here (which is easy to do in Wendland because of the low light pollution).

The hiking trails through the Nemitzer Heide can best be explored on foot (carriage rides are also offered), but it is not easy to ride a bike there, as the paths are very sandy and slippery. I myself usually park my bike at the Nemitzer Heidehaus and explore the heath on foot from there. The Nemitzer Heidehaus is also ideal for eating cake and / or drinking coffee there.

Along the hiking trails there are also occasional seating (wooden benches).
