It's a truly impressive natural spectacle to watch the water cascade 97 meters down. The waterfall can be viewed from two sides: above and below. From the top, towards Todtnau, the mountain isn't particularly crowded for parking, but you then have to climb the entire mountain (and waterfall) back up. It's very beautiful, but also strenuous. There are more parking spaces below, but they're also full, and you don't necessarily have to climb all the way up. But to each his own.

The waterfall is formed by the Stübenbach ("Stiebender Bach"), which rises in the area of the Stübenwasen in the Feldberggebiet. It first flows through the open to the southwest, dominated by meadows high valley of Todtnauberg. Below the tench slope, the valley floor is wooded, and the stream suddenly plunges into a rocky outcrop with two few meters high drop steps. After a short stretch of the river, a massive tumbling fall of about 12 meters follows. Low slope and branched, he then reaches the open to the south, wide fall edge of about 60 meters high, many times articulated main stage. Above and below, jetties cross the stream. After a final, 4-meter-high heel of Stübenbach rushes another 140 meters initially steeply down to Stiebenmatte and then to the mouth of the Schönenbach.
At a distance of 300 meters east of the upper drop level is the monolith treasure stone. In this stone not clearly interpreted signs are carved. It is only known that there are mark separator signs on the location of the pits in the area above the waterfall. On a way from Aftersteg to the waterfalls is located halfway a Mariengrotte.

"...The source area of the Stübenbach is on the 1,386 meter high Stübenwasen. From there it meanders through the high valley of Todtnauberg, where other clear mountain streams join it. These then plunge together with a loud roar in two stages over a huge granite massif into the valley. The completely natural waterfall has been a listed monument since June 1987 and is one of the ten most beautiful natural monuments in Germany. ..."
