The place is probably of Slavic origin and came from 1405 to 1538 in the possession of the monks of the Carthusian monastery in Frankfurt (Oder). The nave was severely damaged and consisted only of the surrounding wall, the tower remains and the choir vault. The roof was missing; As a repair was omitted, the building fell into decay in the following decades. The parish succeeded, however, to install a small church hall in the ruins. After the fall of the Wall, security assistance and reconstruction under the direction of the Berlin architect Heinz Hoffmann began with the aid of a development association in the mid-1990s. Among other things, the building received a glazed attic. The architect consciously decided not to use the same-colored bricks in the repair work, so that the damage remained visible even after the repair. The building has been used since 2002 as a municipal and ecclesiastical center.
