    Gamplüt cable car with wind and solar power
    The Gamplüt cable car runs on solar power. The warm water used in the Gamplüt mountain restaurant comes from the solar panels and the warm air fireplace in the large hall. When the sun isn't shining, the wind blows. That's why a wind turbine produces additional electricity. For us, it's a matter of course to invest in sustainable energy; we care about the place and nature.
    The world's first wind and solar cable car in Toggenburg
    The only fully solar-powered cable car in the world (as of 2012) is in Obertoggenburg. It connects Wildhaus with Alp Gamplüt. The cable car's maximum speed is 19.8 km/h. The photovoltaic systems on the roof of the mountain restaurant and the machine hall produce about the same amount of electricity as the cable car consumes.
