The diocese is headed by the diocesan bishop. The vicar general helps him with the administration of the diocese and the management of the diocese office, and episcopal vicars are often entrusted with special tasks - they are all appointed to their functions by the diocesan bishop.
The Bishopric of Litoměřice is therefore an institution that helps the bishop manage the diocese and bear pastoral and administrative responsibilities. It provides professional yet friendly support to individual communities of the diocese. A bishop's office, called the bishop's curia, is established for this purpose.
