      The lake is 1648 m above sea level. A. in the Duisitzkar on the west side above the Obertal. It rests embedded in a montane mixed larch forest between Ferchtlhöhe (1913 m) in the north, Murspitzen (2333 m) in the west and Duisitzer Hahnkamp (2296 m) in the south. The approximately 5.4 ha large water surface[1] is fed by the tributary of the same name from the Humpback Cirque Lakes (2073 m) to the south-west, which flows into a small delta. A conspicuous paragneiss spur towers around 60 meters above the lake at the cirque.
      The Fahrlechhütte and the Duisitzkarseehütte are located on the north-eastern shore, in the immediate vicinity of the lake.

        Probably the most beautiful photo spot on the Duisitzkarsee. From here you have a view of the entire lake, the two huts on the opposite bank and a fantastic view of the surrounding 2000s (Hintere Waschlkarspitze, Grünriedl, Hinterer Wildkarstein and the Wasserfallspitze).                 Impressive mountain lake with wonderful clear water and beautiful huts. The ascent is rewarded with a wonderful panorama.

                The Fahrlechhütte also has a children's playground with a slide, a basket swing and a climbing wall. Maybe that helps motivate children for promotion. :-)

                From the Eschachalm to the Duisitzkarsee it is about 60 minutes on the trail. The climb over the trail is partly steep. To the 400 vertical meters to 1.8 km. A flatter climb is possible via a forest road.

                Only a limited number of parking spaces are available at the Eschachalm. On a nice day it can get tight. Until the bus stop Hopfriesen the way is paved. A gravel road then leads to the Eschachalm.

                Getting there is also easy with the bus 973 from Schladming. The use of the bus is included for owners of the Dachstein Sommercard. This card is included with many hotels.
