The entire system was founded as one of the first earth stations in the world in 1963 by the German Federal Post Office. With the division of the "Deutsche Bundespost" authority into the independent "Telekom" division, Deutsche Telekom carried out these communication services for the purpose of worldwide telephone connections, data and television exchanges until the end of 2005. The earth station was sold to the international. Their activities are also international satellite connections and other satellite services - in principle as they were operated here by Deutsche Telekom. Seven large antennas are currently in active use.
