La Spiriterie Française, Château du Breuil Normandie, is the first company to distill and refine a wide range of excellent rums, whiskeys, and Calvados under one roof. This talent stems from the ancestral know-how of the Calvados AOC.
Located in the heart of Normandy, Château du Breuil is a property steeped in history. Built in the early 16th century, the château has housed several important families, including the Bouquetots, the Montgomerys (1611–1658), the young Tancrède de Rohan (1630–1658), and the Bences (1696–1734). Listed as a historical monument, the château reflects the architecture of the Aube department. In 1954, Philippe Bizouard, whose family had always distilled Calvados, decided to purchase the château to establish his own distillery. At this location, around the château, he found everything he was looking for: space (a 28-hectare park), industrial buildings, apples in the surrounding villages, and a skilled workforce. Today, Le Château du Breuil still distills Calvados and has its own orchards in the communes of Breuil-en-Auge and Saint-Philbert-des-Champs, totaling 42 hectares planted with 22,000 apple trees.
