The Limburg (597.4 m above sea level NHN) is the home mountain of the city Weilheim an der Teck in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg. The summit of the almost perfectly formed cone mountain rises almost 200 m above the immediate surroundings.
Striking is the structure of the vegetation: the summit is covered with grasslands and some solitary linden trees. Below this there is a zone with scrub forest, on the southern slope with vineyards, and at the lower mountain slopes extensive orchards.

Great all-round view from the Albtrauf over the Kirchheim basin to the first heights of the Aichelberg. Great view of Weilheim. Small paths with switchbacks screw up steeply on two opposite sides of the mountain to Limburg, a former volcanic cone that was once the site of a castle. Typical strictly protected juniper heath on the rear flank.

It should also be noted that the Limburg is a former volcanic vent that remained standing when the softer Jura rock surrounding it was eroded away.
Already 215 BC the mountain was settled by a Celtic tribe. The Zähringer family built a castle here around 1050/60. They later moved their headquarters to Baden.
