    The bridge near the wall can be used to cross the Este (May 2021). The facility was restored as a showpiece from the end of the 1960s, as there wasn't much left of the original thanks to erosion.         The ring wall "Alte Burg" is a gem on the Este near Hollenstedt. It is an earth wall with a ditch from the late 9th century, which can still be seen today. This complex, also called a castle, was fortified with palisades and probably served for defensive purposes. It was probably built by Charlemagne and later (after a fire) taken over by the Counts of Stade.

        The ring wall with the medieval garden is a beautiful and quiet place. A bench invites you to linger and there is also a self-built barbecue area. The garden, which was created by students and the Estetal association, among others, includes interesting herbs and plants.
