The castle in Winnenden, south of and below the old town (formerly Winnental Castle of the Teutonic Order) cannot be visited. It houses the administration of the Center for Psychiatry in Winnenden. The castle garden, a large, beautifully landscaped park, is freely accessible.

In 1525, it was called Bürg, and in 1624, Altwinnenden. Altwinnenden Castle was the seat of the Lords of Winnenden before it became part of Württemberg.
