The name of the village before the reform of the rules of Russian spelling (1956) was called Tsybeevo. The name of the village itself, according to local historian V. D. Ogurtsov, comes from the nickname of the founder of the village - Tsyba, Tsybaty. The first documentary mentions of the village of Tsybeevo date back to 1625. However, according to the research of V. D. Ogurtsov, the date of the village's foundation can be considered 1609, since it is known that the village was owned by Pyotr Nikitich Sheremetyev, who died in 1609. It is possible that the history of the village begins much earlier.

In 1879, a stone church was built in the village at the expense of parishioners. The stone bell tower was built in 1891, has not survived.
