The village church Körbitz is a Romanesque field stone building from the 13th century. The west tower was added later, suggesting his late-Gothic, not at the time of construction of the church appropriate style. The church was restored at the end of the 19th century, with the windows enlarged and the entrance on the south side walled up. Another restoration took place in 1984.

Relatively early, because as early as 1221, the village was mentioned under the name of Carnwitz. By 1648 it had become today's Körbitz. The original name can be derived from the Slavic and describes a place where there are cows.
The Körbitz church consists of a slightly recessed, transverse rectangular tower, nave and semi-circular apse. Overall, the building appears wider than it is here in the east due to the buttresses attached to the corners. The fieldstone masonry of the tower is still layered, but contains a lot of small-scale material. Its plastered belfry was raised in brick. The lower parts of the nave show regular fieldstone masonry as it belongs to the 13th century, while higher up it appears to be more modern.
All openings have also been changed. Nothing has survived from medieval windows or portals. It is also questionable to what extent the two windows on the apse still represent an original condition.
Based on the ground plan, the church was probably built in the 13th century as an apse hall, to which the west tower was added in the later Middle Ages. After that, extensive renovations were carried out, perhaps as a result of the destruction. The belfry probably dates from the 17th century. During further restoration work at the end of the 19th century, the ridge turret was put on, all openings that might have been redesigned in the Baroque style were changed and the east gable was rebuilt. The fieldstone masonry in the east also points more to the more recent past with its mosaic-like structure. In 1910 the interior was repainted. There used to be two carvings here, a Madonna and John the Evangelist, but unfortunately they were stolen.
