A still standing tower of the medieval waiting system. The Bicklingswarte can of course be climbed and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding fields. Nearby is the Gernsdorf Castle and, if you continue up the mountain, you can also visit the Seweckenwarte (with a really great view).

The Bicklingswarte is a former Feldwarte and is located between Rieder and Quedlinburg. It belonged in the Middle Ages to an extensive defense and early warning system. The tower was once occupied by guards who watched the surrounding area around the clock. In case of danger, the tower crew alerted the city and provided shelter for the field workers in the area.
Built on a small hill, the tower was probably built in the 14th century and used until the 16th century. The walls are about a meter thick and made of sandstone. The tower diameter is just over five meters. At one time the building was probably more than 15 meters high, in our days there are still more than 10 meters high.
The entrance to the Bicklingswarte was originally at lofty heights to keep out uninvited guests. He was later walled up. Today's access has only been in the recent past.
