An ancient church, dating back to the 10th century, with frescoes literally superimposed over the course of many eras. It is a heritage that has suffered looting throughout history, and in the last century it even risked being demolished. How much culture and history would have been lost!!!
Luckily this site was recently recovered by the volunteers of Vetralla, who are very nice ladies and gentlemen, very prepared and helpful. They welcomed us very well, they guided us on a visit of the church and the site; among other things, the place itself is also very convenient, because it is located in the ideal spot for a lunch break/snack break starting from Viterbo, for pilgrims who travel the Viterbo - Vetralla stage of the Via Francigena.
A site that is slowly recovering the notoriety it deserves, thanks to the commitment of the volunteers. It is one of the highlights of the Francigena stages closest to Rome. It really deserves it!
