Between 1943 and 1945 there was a hospital for Soviet prisoners of war in Nennigmühle, in which the forced laborers from the Zwickau coal mines who were no longer able to work were left to die. An obelisk on the road to Sorgau commemorates 96 victims of forced labor with name plaques.

From 1959 to 1963, this monument was expanded in the style of socialist classicism on the occasion of the 25th anniversary. The above text and 96 names of Soviet prisoners of war who died in Nennigmühle are written on the memorial in Russian.

In 2009 this monument was desecrated, one could also say grave desecration.
The monument was renewed in 2014 and 2015. There were many problems with the conversion, as construction workers treated the bones found in an unworthy manner.

As of 2015, memorial services for the dead are held regularly. Visitors often come to see the memorial and may leave some flowers.
