The village of Lykovo, founded by the merchant Lykov in the 16th century, was the patrimony of the Kozmino-Yakhromsky Monastery until 1764. The stone Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin was built in 1823.
The temple was painted in 1838 with magnificent paintings that have survived to this day. The temple amazes with its size: the area of the temple is 1,500 sq. m, the height with the cross is 40 m. The 25-meter iconostasis of the main temple is made in the Empire style and amazes with its elegance and richness of carved details and icons.
Near the temple there is another local landmark - the Lykovsky Shishak.
