THE BUILDING
• 1812: with a licence from the bishopric, the first religious building in the town of Pto. del Rosario was built next to the dock, an area that was then part of the municipality of Tetir. It was a small oratory dedicated to the Virgin of El Rosario and had been requested by a group of neighbours of the emerging town.
• 1824-1835: The construction of the final church began in the current location and part of the wood for the roof came from Barlovento (La Palisa). At the foot of the church, a temporary chapel was built to pray there while the main building was being built. In this first chapel, the image of the Virgin of El Rosario was brought from his first oratory and, in addition, it was also used as the seat of the parish council and the parish for many decades.
• 1845: A new building plan was drawn up, initiated by Bishop Judas José Romo. This involved the demolition of the chapel-parish council, the construction of two sacristies, a choir and two towers, with a total cost of 3,995 pesetas (24 euros). Bieser's construction plan was never completed.
• 1857: The presbytery was built higher than the hall, where the largest arch is supported by two buttresses, and the two sacristies were built next to it. The wooden panelling of the roof was finished and a small bell tower was built at one end of the roof.
• 1888: In order to hang two new bells brought from Marseille, the parish commissioned the construction of a bell tower made of grindstone with three clear spans on the east wall of the chapel.
• 1928: The chapel-parish council was dismantled to extend the hall by ten metres and then build the tower of the current façade!
• 1930: The construction of the temple was finished. In 1990, the temple was declared a public asset of cultural interest under the category of historical and artistic monument
