The parish church of Prettau, dedicated to Saint Valentine, is a typical late Gothic building from 1489.
In the 17th century, the church was extended by a bay on the west side. At that time, the copper mine of Prettau was at its absolute peak. The population of the village reached its highest level, so that the need to enlarge the church arose.
In the middle of the 18th century, the church was given a baroque makeover. At that time, two side altars were set up with the high altar, one in honor of the Mother of God, the other in honor of Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners. In the middle of the 19th century, the baroque elements were replaced by neo-Gothic ones.
In 1966, the redesign of the cemetery was started.
