    You have a nice view from this small mountain. Around it runs a wide moat. There are some hills on the mountain itself. On top of it is a small monument and a few remains of the wall.

      Riberhus Slotsbanke is now just what remains of a castle with a moat, ruins and a statue of Queen Dagmar, who is said to have been brought here from Bohemia to be married to Valdemar the Victorious (1170-1214).

      Riberhus Castle was built by King Niels in the early 12th century and was a favorite residence of kings in the centuries that followed. In the 15th century it fell into disrepair, but it was still the center of many historical events. In the middle of the 17th century the castle lost its importance and was unfortunately demolished.

      But it's definitely worth stopping by there. From the ring wall you have great views of Ribe and the surrounding area.

        Riberhus Castle Wall.
        Riberhus Castle was located on the castle rampart in Ribe. Today only ruins remain, as well as a bronze statue of Queen Dagmar, who lived at the castle in the early 13th century. The castle was not the first building on the site. Archaeological excavations show that people lived in the area as early as the 12th century.

        In 1205 Princess Drakomira of Bohemia married the Danish king Valdemar Sejr. She became Queen Dagmar of Denmark and was very popular with the people. She died in Ribe in 1212.
