    Only a small remnant of the once existing city wall has been preserved in the ramparts between Mauerstrasse and Wallallee. Only a remnant of the ramparts built in the 15th century has also been preserved. This consisted of a high rampart with one or two deep ditches that were filled with water from the Elde and thus protected the city in addition to the city wall and the defensive towers. The city wall around Parchim, which lay behind the ramparts, was built as early as the 13th/14th century. Three double gates were also built, similar to those in Neubrandenburg. The Cross, Wocker and New Gate were demolished, as was the city wall, towards the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. As in Neubrandenburg, the city wall was probably equipped with several watchtowers for defense. Bulges in the city wall that could be manned by crossbowmen.
