Canyonlands National Park is divided into three main districts: Island in the Sky, Needles and The Maze. Island in the Sky is by far the district with most visitors whereas The Maze sees few visitors due to its remote location.

There are great hiking trails in Canyonlands that range from easy to very demanding. You can even walk into a meteor crater! For overnight backcountry trips, you need to apply for a permit. It is also possible and an awesome adventure to explore the canyons by boat. You can book guided trips or take your own boat. You will need a river permit which allows you to camp along the Green River.

Be aware: even if you do not expect them here in the dry, rocky environment, black bears are present in Canyonlands.
