St. Georg Hoppegarten is located in the district of Märkisch Oderland in the state of Brandenburg and belongs to the Archdiocese of Berlin. Hoppegarten has been a part of the city since the end of the 19th century.

With the construction of St. Georg in 1905, the Catholics in the Hoppegarten area received their own place of worship. In December of the following year, the design by the Berlin architect Paul Franke was approved and the contract was awarded to the Büttner company in Werneuchen. The foundation stone was laid on July 3rd, 1904 and the consecration (liturgical consecration) took place on March 5th, 1905 by Army Bishop Heinrich Vollmar. It is not without reason that the church bears the name of St. George, the patron saint of riders, as it was mainly racetrack employees such as jockeys who ensured the rapid increase in the number of Catholics in Hoppegarten in the late 19th century.
