You can really enjoy the former steam locomotive path along its remaining length. With moderate inclines and declines, it takes you safely through the beautiful Allgäu, away from the traffic on the roads. Here you can always see the mountain panorama or just give in to your thoughts. You do have to stay focused a little, the path is popular with cyclists, walkers and athletes (rollerbladers).

The former steam locomotive trail runs for around 19 km from the edge of Marktoberdorf (roundabout B16, St 2008, Hochwiesstraße, Füssener Straße) to Lechbruck. In the Rieder area you have to cross the road twice and, as a cyclist, go around two barriers that are intended to prevent motorists from using this section of the path. Just before the road junction towards Lechbruck and Steingaden you should not miss the sharp turnoff at around 13 km, under the road, towards Lechbruck. Just before Lechbruck there is another fork in the road and it is better to continue on the left branch. On nice weekends the route is at times very busy, primarily with cyclists. If you do not take the turnoff towards Lechbruck at km 13, you can take other lovely bike tours on the way to Roßhaupten, Füssen or around Lake Forggensee.
