The city park of Nortorf was created in the years 1953-1956 east of the city center as a landscape park. On the initiative of the politician and art connoisseur Kurt Hamer, the Nortorf Sculpture Park was established there at the end of 1987, which presents a collection of sculptures by well-known Schleswig-Holstein artists and those who are closely connected to the country. Since the opening at the end of 1987, very different styles have been presented. Of the first eleven works originally set up when the company was founded, some works have now been exchanged and new ones have been set up, so that today 22 sculptures by 21 different sculptors can be seen. The permanent exhibition with guided tours and public relations work has been turned into a well-known attraction in the region by the “Förderverein Skulpturenpark Nortorf e.V.”. The park area is also characterized by a wide variety of tree species and invites you to inquire at any time and without entrance fee.
