Anyone who starts or breaks off their bike ride in Cottbus will find a pleasant green oasis in the heart of the city in Pushkin Park. However, cycling is not permitted in the park itself – the paths are reserved for pedestrians, which is understandable in good weather: families, walkers, and students share the meadows and paths.

Convenient: For about a year now, a designated cycle path has run parallel to the park, providing easy and safe access to the city center or out of town.

For me, Pushkin Park was the starting point for the second leg of the Gurkenradweg (Cucumber Cycle Route), from Cottbus to Burg. A good place to regroup, refill your water bottles, and let your gaze wander over the manicured greenery before continuing on towards the Spreewald – somewhere between reeds and longing.
