                  The West Wall was a German fortification line stretching 630 kilometers along Germany's western border. It primarily consisted of small combat bunkers, roadblocks, anti-tank barriers, and several underground tunnels. Generally speaking, the West Wall's function was to prevent an Allied invasion, which Hitler's war plans entailed, or to delay it until troops from the east could be moved to the west for defense.
