The Jeker (French: Geer of Jaer; Walloon: Djer; Latin: Jecora; Maastricht: Eker) rises in the Belgian Lens-Saint-Servais near Borgworm, flows through a large part of Haspengouw and flows into the Meuse near the Dutch city of Maastricht out. The Jeker is approximately 55 km long. The Jeker valley has been carved out by the stream over thousands of years. Particularly near the mouth of the Meuse, the Jeker valley has fairly steep slopes, in some cases covered with slope forests. The largest difference in height (near Bassenge) is 75 meters. Near Kanne, between Wonck and Maastricht, the Caestert Plateau is located on the east side of the stream valley, including the Sint-Pietersberg. On the west side of the Jekerdal, the Cannerberg is located between Kanne and Maastricht, the southern part of which is also called Muizenberg.
