    The Cheb Museum, with the largest historical collection in the Karlovy Vary region, was founded in 1873. It is housed in the so-called Pachelbel House, one of the best-preserved medieval patrician houses in the city. Not only the exhibits are historically significant, but also the place itself: the Generalissimo of the imperial armies, Albrecht von Wallenstein, one of the greatest generals of the Thirty Years' War, was murdered in this house on February 25, 1634.

      Another extraordinary exhibit in the museum exhibition is undoubtedly the Eger Antependium (altar decoration), which serves to decorate the front of the altar bar. The valuable embroidery work, dated around 1300 and probably the work of the Eger Poor Clares, is one of the most important sights of handicrafts. The exhibition of the Cheb Museum is gracefully represented, among other things, by the oldest surviving bell in the Bohemian region, the collection of Gothic sculptures, excerpts from Baroque Cheb gunsmithing or the rare complex of ivory carvings of the most famous personalities of the Thirty Years' War period from the so-called Hallwich Collection.
