The Bickentor in Villingen was built around 1260 and is now 18 meters high. The floor plan of the medieval gate is 8 by 11 meters. The monastery chapel of St. Ursula is attached. The monastery has been home to an order of Poor Clares since 1480. In 1782 it became an Ursuline monastery with a girls' school. To this day it is a high school and secondary school. The monastery continued to exist until the summer of 2015 and then closed its doors.

The name Bickentor (at the foot of the Bickeberg) goes back to the time before the city was founded, when Alemanni were already settling on the other side of the Brigach. One of them named “Bicko” had his farm on the Bickeberg.

The Bickentor was built around 1260. It was first mentioned in writing in 1344. There were some changes in the 16th and 17th centuries. The front gate, the so-called Bickentor bay window, was built in 1737 and demolished again in 1868. In 1875 the local council passed a resolution to demolish the entire gate, but this was not implemented.
